We have
a full time registered nurse and doctor in residence
at the camp. All of our staff has first aid
certification and CPR. All trips and outings
have staff qualified in first-aid and a lifeguard
on board. We are a 10 minute drive from the
local CLSC (Community Health Clinic) in St.
Donat. The Ste. Agathe Hospital is 30 minutes
away. There is a local ambulance service and
we are just over an hour and a half from the
Montreal Children's Hospital.
Our staff
is highly qualified and experienced. Most are
bilingual college or university students or
graduates. Our camper-to-staff ratio is 3:1.
We have around 40 staff between the ages of
approximately 17 to 25. All of our junior counselors
(17 year olds) are previous campers who have
completed our two-month counselor-in-training
(CIT) program. We have a 10 day pre-camp instructional
period to knit the team into a cohesive group
and train them thoroughly. All staff, with the
exception of the health care professional, the
office staff, the two unit heads, the program
director and the tripping director is in charge
of a cabin group. This means that our activity
specialists double as cabin counselors, which
is a rarity in camping. We feel that this system
guarantees a level of professionalism, teamwork
and responsibility that greatly elevates the
quality of camp life. Our staff is focused on
the well-being of our campers, and truly work
together to make the camp environment exciting,
fun, safe and nurturing. Campers are known personally
and cared for by all of our staff, and also
have their own special cabin counselor. The
foundation of the cabin counselor’s daily
routine is that wherever she goes, her way lies
past her campers’ cabin. Your daughter
will quickly feel that there is always a familiar
and comforting staff member nearby as she goes
about her daily routine.
