Camp Ouareau is always a work in progress, whether it is our physical site, program, or staff training. We are constantly looking to improve who we are and what we do.
Don Raill who is one of the owners and our resident carpenter has been declared our secret weapon by the Gazette. It is with his skills and high standards that camp Ouareau is constantly being improved this year with no exception. He completed the new shower house. They are beautiful mixture of cedar and white and green tiles. They elude warmth and amazing architecture. He and his team also built a new cabin near the lake, called Anglers Rest. It fits in with the environment. They also built a new boardwalk and started a new set of stairs up from Anglers Rest towards the dining room.
The fall has brought many many trenches all over camp, that are now holding new wiring all over camp. This will allow Don to enhance our existing electrical system. The maintenance team, which normally stops in late October is still working at camp until the end of February on what we call “the man's shed”. This workshop will give Don the space needed to work throughout the winter on projects for the camp such as canoes, tables etc.
Our Montreal staff Gabrielle Raill, Kaitlin Pace and Claudie Camirand are hard at work hiring staff from last year, marketing for new and old campers. They are the people we can thank for this new web site along with our web master Bruce Allen. The team will have attended five conferences before the summer begins. Along with a group of independent camp owners we attended a four-day professional retreat in Algonquin Park
