Seven to nine
campers and two or three staff sit at round
tables placed alternately by their first language.
The campers are mixed within their unit and
seating changes every week.
Conversation pertaining to the meal is in the
language of the day - general chat may be in
either language. This way, campers hear their
second language spoken by native speakers in
an every day setting. This is the kind of arrangement
that makes Ouareau different from other "immersion"
camps, where generally campers all speak one
language, and staff speak the other. Our campers
benefit greatly from hearing their second language
spoken by peers, on topics that interest them!
